    Ananda Mehrotra founder of Sattva Yoga Academy located at the foothills of the Himalayas in Rishikesh, India.

    Maryann Purcell is a Certified 500hour RYT   Trained at Sattva Yoga Academy in Rishikesh, India


    Mastering the techniques of Hath yoga, Kriya, 

    Pranayama, and Meditation 


    2010 Maryann discovered yoga -  it was divine timing. She didn't even know what it was.

    Maryann was experiencing extreme stress while caring for her out-of-state elderly mother.  

    At the same time she was juggling to manage her travel agency business back home.

    Completely alone, Maryann felt as though her mother's life was in her hands.  

    She had become exhausted, depleted, and filled with anxiety. 

     Maryann struggled and found it nearly impossible to take a deep breath.  

    And then she heard a voice in her head, it said...  "do yoga"  

     

    Maryann decided to listen to her quiet, inner voice.

    She immediately found the nearest yoga class.


    She learned that consciously uniting the power of breath and movement saved her from a life 

    filled with high anxiety,  to a life of complete calm.


    2016  Maryann earned her 200 hour training in Rishikesh, India.  She realized that yoga would be a forever part of her life..  Trained at Sattva Yoga Academy, by her Guru, Master Teacher Anandji Mehrotra

    2017 Maryann continued her studies of living her yoga.  She dove into the study of Ayurveda / Eastern Medicine 

    YogaMU, Rishikesh, India


    2016-2023 Maryann continued training each year at various Ashrams in India.   


    2024  Maryann earned another 300 hours in Rishikesha, India 

    from her Guru, Master Teacher Anandji Mehrotra.


    2025 Maryann received  her Certification in Ayurveda / Eastern Medicine.  

    She continues to use specific herbs to promote health..


    Her style will take you on a journey, a journey inward.  Yoga is a work in, not a work out.

    Creating intentional detachment from an over active mind, creating a space that will allow you to be the 

    Master of your breath, connecting you to the present moment.

    The only experience you need is to experience Maryann's class.  All sessions are accessible to everyone.  Maryann verbally guides each class making it easy to follow and she does the moves with you. In yoga there is no beginning, there is no end, there are no levels.  Yoga is an ongoing pratice for everyone.  Please feel comfortable to join in any class.

    Sincerely,  ~ No handstands required, ever.


    Come with a open mind, leave all judgements at the door.  You will experience Pranayama breathing techniques (to calm the nervous system),  Guided Meditation to allow the mind to empty out and become clear,  Muscle movements (from seated on the floor to standing with out assistance) which allow the body to retain it's youthful tone and Stretching to create a deeper fluidity in our daily movements as we all grow younger together. 


    Each class may have a different attendance.  The age ranges from 25 - 65, with the majority age being 40-50.  Yoga is for everyone.   

                              ~ Come as you are; Use what you have; Do what you can ~


    An open mind willing to try something new

    A tight or sore body that is ready to do gentle stretches

    A yoga mat  - if you forget we have extras.

    Wear clothes that stretch

    Wear a loose shirt however one which does not lift when you bend over

    Bring water only if you choose, typically not necessary.



    SOCKS - Yoga is done in bare feet and will prevent you from slipping.  No socks required.  

    APPLE WATCH - Avoid the desire to look.

    CELL PHONE - please make sure your cell phone is on silent or in airplane mode.

    OR Your Furry Service Animal - I love all animals.!   However in consideration of those that may have allergies, please leave your furry friend at home.       


    Movement of the body and breath is always encouraged. Conscious movement shifts energy at a cellular level.  It is safe to participate if you are on medication; however always ask your doctor (that knows you and the medications you are taking) if movement and breathing techniques are suggested for you.

    If you are being treated for or currently take medications for high blood pressure, hypertension, heart disease,; have had a hip or knee replacement, back surgery,, detached retina or any other health concern, it is important to make Maryann aware of your situation.
